Lash extensions: classic, 2D, 3D or Hollywood — which should you choose?

Lash extensions make your eyes look brighter and more expressive — no mascara, no strip lashes and no morning rush. But on a first visit almost everyone asks the same question: which effect should I choose? In this article we explain how classic, 2D, 3D and Hollywood lashes differ, what happens during the treatment and how to care for your lashes so they last.

How lash extensions work

The lash artist attaches a synthetic lash — or a fine "fan" of several lashes — to each of your natural lashes with a special adhesive. Extensions are light and flexible; their length, thickness and curl are chosen to suit your eye shape and the look you want.

Your eyes stay closed throughout, and your lower lashes are covered with a special tape. The treatment is painless — many clients even fall asleep. How long it takes depends on the effect: classic is quicker, volume effects take longer.

The effects and how they differ

Classic

One extension is attached to each natural lash. The result is natural — as if you were wearing a good mascara. Classic lashes are ideal for a first visit, for an everyday look and for anyone whose own lashes are fairly full. Price at SANLE: 60₾.

2D

Two fine extensions are attached to each natural lash. Volume increases noticeably, but the look stays soft and natural. A good choice if your own lashes are sparse. Price: 65₾.

3D

Fans of three lashes create a denser, more defined line. The eyes look beautifully framed and more striking, yet the result is still wearable every day. Price: 70₾.

Hollywood

The fullest, most glamorous effect: fans of many ultra-fine lashes create a rich, "velvety" line. It is often chosen for special occasions — a wedding or a photo shoot — or simply by those who love a show-stopping look. Price: 80₾.

How to choose the right effect

The most important factor is the condition of your own lashes. Each natural lash carries the weight of its extension, so heavy volume must never be attached to thin, weak lashes — an experienced lash artist will always take this into account and suggest a safe option.

Also think about:

• your lifestyle — if you often do sport or swim, a lighter effect is more practical;
• your style — do you prefer minimal or bold makeup day to day?
• your features — the right length and curl flatter the shape of your eyes.

How to prepare

Come without mascara or eye makeup. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before the treatment. On the day before, avoid rich creams and oil-based products around the eyes — they weaken the adhesive's grip.

Aftercare

• don't get your lashes wet for the first 24–48 hours, and avoid steam, saunas and hot showers — the adhesive is fully curing during this time;
• avoid oil-based makeup removers — oil dissolves the adhesive;
• don't rub your eyes or pull at your lashes;
• brush them gently every day with a clean spoolie;
• try to sleep on your back or side rather than face-down;
• there's no need for mascara on extensions;

Why refills are needed

Natural lashes renew constantly: a few fall out every day and new ones grow in their place. An extension falls out together with its natural lash, so after 2–3 weeks the line looks sparser. At a refill, the artist attaches new extensions where lashes have shed and replaces grown-out ones. A refill at SANLE costs 45₾.
